When Alaina first heard about Vemma, she’d just transferred to UC Riverside from Providence College. “I’d given up my scholarship to come back to California, so I was paying for school for the first time. I lost a ton of credits when I transferred, so I was taking a double load (24 credits!), plus I was still playing softball,” Alaina shares. “So I was basically in a pickle where I had no time and no money, and no way to make money.” Alaina’s hitting coach understood her tough situation and introduced her to Vemma. “Wendy simply asked me, ‘If I could show you a way to earn a full time or part-time income each month while doing everything you are doing, would you be interested?’ I said absolutely.” And so Alaina joined the Vemma team.
Setting the Right Goals
As a competitive athlete, Alaina is achievement-oriented and is very specific with her goals. “Not only do I set goals, but I find out exactly what it takes to reach them. A lot of people are great about having a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude. I had that right attitude but didn’t start seeing success until I took the time to understand the compensation plan. Now, when I set a goal, I know exactly what it will take to achieve it.” That switch made a big difference for Alaina, who has advanced to Executive since joining Vemma less than a year ago.* “Whether I am moving fast or slow, I am always working. This is because I know if I take a break, then my entire team is watching.”
