We receive frequent inquiries regarding the sourcing of our mangosteen. I personally oversee all aspects in the manufacturing of Vemma products including the sourcing of our raw materials. While the exact location of our mangosteen source and processing methods are proprietary, I can provide some basic information to address the quality of the mangosteen used.
Firstly, our mangosteen is grown and harvested as nature intended, from their natural environment and typically without the use of pesticides. Each tree may yield up to 900 fruit per season and is left intact to produce future generations of mangosteen. Our Brand Team Executive likes to call them “free-range mangosteens” though officially-speaking, this method of harvesting is referred to as “wildcrafted”.
In order to provide the optimal levels of nutrients available in mangosteen, we utilize several sources. The first source is reconstituted whole fruit mangosteen which is generated by dissolving whole, dried mangosteen fruit into water. The second source is the mangosteen extract, a potent extract derived from the xanthone-rich pericarp (rind) of the mangosteen fruit. The potency of our mangosteen is evidenced by independent third-party testing. Vemma products contain substantially higher levels of Xanthones than our leading competitor. Xanthones are the biologically active phytonutrients in the mangosteen that give its free-radical fighting power.
You may often find a fibrous material within your Vemma bottle– this is from the whole fruit mangosteen. We recommend inverting the bottle (with cap on) and shaking it well to redistribute the fibers. Because we use natural ingredients such as the mangosteen, and choose not to use artificial colorings, it is normal to see variations in our product’s appearance. There will be slight variations in color, taste and consistency from batch to batch which does not impact its efficacy in any way. Please know that every batch of product undergoes an organoleptic evaluation by my Research & Development staff to verify that it is within quality parameters. To further assess the quality of our formula, upon completion, each batch of Vemma product is quality tested for purity and potency by an independent laboratory.
